Funmilola Fagbamila is a playwright, scholar, activist, performance artist and original member of the Black Lives Matter movement. She currently serves as a professor of Pan African Studies at California State University, Los Angeles. Funmilola’s current project, entitled "The Intersection: Woke Black Folk", is a stage play on the complexities of black political identity. This production has been met with critical acclaim by thinkers and artists such as Angela Davis and Erykah Baduand recently completed a European tour (staging in venues across Amsterdam, London and Paris). In both 2015 and 2018, Funmilola was honored by the United States Congress for her activist scholarship.
