ANNOUNCING THE 2019 MAISON BALDWIN INTERN-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM
Les Amis de la Maison Baldwin, a nonprofit organization incorporated in France, is pleased to announce the 2019 Intern-in-Residence program. This unpaid opportunity is open to students at the undergraduate, graduate and postgrad levels, as well as to independent community organizers and activists. We are happy to work with your educational institution regarding academic credit and internship supervision.
This is a two-month internship, in which four weeks are performed remotely and four in residence in St. Paul de Vence, hosted in a private bedroom in the historic house that is home to our Welcome Center. Meals will be provided. Depending upon our success in fundraising, travel stipends may be available at the end of the internship period.
We plan to welcome 6 to 8 interns in 2019. We are currently accepting applications for the internship beginning on January 1, 2019, with the one-month residency period starting mid-January. Interns will work 2 weeks in advance of the residency, 4 weeks onsite, and 2 weeks afterward to wrap up the experience and help train the next intern.
The successful applicant will have a demonstrated interest in James Baldwin, preferably having a history of academic, artistic or community organizing work inspired by his oeuvre. Practical skills are essential as well: facility with computers; experience with social media; excellent language skills, French a huge plus. .
